Elizabeth Newcombe of The Botanical Company, Bramley, Surrey has been crowned Interflora Florist of the Year 2022 in a nail-biting final at RHS Garden Bridgewater in Manchester. She will now go on to represent the UK and Ireland at next year’s
Interflora World Cup 2023, which is being held right here in the UK for the first time ever.

Elizabeth was buzzing with joy as the scores were announced, beating off stiff competition from four other very talented florists. Charlotte Davies of Hilary’s Floral Design, Abergavenny and Caroline Crabb of Fleurtations, Bodmin came in a very close second and third place respectively.

The final took place in front of a live audience with each florist having to complete four tasks devised to test their skills, push the boundaries of their art form and encourage creativity and innovation, all under the theme Growing Together.

Talking about the competition, Elizabeth said, “I can’t believe I’m Florist of the Year, next step is the World Cup. Tonight, we’re going to celebrate, catch up on some sleep and then we’re going to get the designs rolling and the ideas flowing ready for next year.”

Meet the Semi-Finalists

Hannah is currently studying floristry at Moreton Morrell College in Warwickshire as well as working at Louise's Florist in Evesham. Although only 21, Hannah has already competed in numerous professional floristry competitions and is also in the squad for UK WorldSkills, competing for a place to represent Great Britain in Shanghai later in the year.

Victoria, who works as a freelance florist, has been in the floristry industry for 19 years and has successfully competed in numerous professional floristry competitions, including winning a Gold Medal at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show.

Caroline, who owns and runs Fleurtations florist in Bodmin, has been a florist for 28 years and holds both UK and US floristry qualifications. Having successfully competed in floristry events around the world, Caroline overcame strong competition in this year’s Florist of the Year heats, where she created a hand-tied bouquet, an arrangement and a body adornment under the theme ‘Inspired by Nature’.

Charlotte, who works for Hilarys Floral Design (her mum’s business) in Abergavenny, has been a florist for 17 years and has successfully competed in numerous professional floristry competitions including World Skills and at RHS Chelsea Flower Show.

Tracey, who works for Sandras Florist (her mum’s business) in Southampton, has been a florist all her working life and also works as a floristry tutor and demonstrator. She has successfully competed in numerous professional floristry competitions, including winning a Gold Medal at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show.

Rebecca, a floristry lecturer at East Durham College and Sheffield Floristry School, has been a florist for 12 years and has successfully competed in numerous professional floristry competitions, including winning a Gold Medal at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show.

Elizabeth, who owns and runs The Botanical Company in Bramley near Guildford, has been a florist for 9 years and trained at Merrist Wood College. She has successfully competed in numerous professional floristry competitions including World Skills and at RHS Chelsea Flower Show, where she won a Gold medal and was crowned Young Chelsea Florist of the Year in 2019.

Helen has been a florist for an impressive 37 years and has successfully competed in numerous professional floristry competitions, including winning a Gold Medal at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show.

Dean who owns Dean Sharpe's Floral Studio in Stafford, Staffordshire
has been a florist for 7 years and trained at Moreton Morrell College in Warwickshire. He has successfully competed in numerous professional floristry competitions including World Skills and at RHS Chelsea Flower Show.

Jill, who owns and runs Plantology Floral Creations in Sheffield, has been a florist for over 20 years and trained at Sheffield College. She is currently studying for her Level 5 Masters Diploma in professional floristry, but this is the first professional floristry competition she has ever entered.
