Garden Museum hosts glorious BFW installations

Take five stunning designers, add in thousands of gorgeous British blooms and together you have a veritable feast of floral wonderfulness as British Flowers Week returns to the Garden Museum this summer for a week of floral installations

Running 9 – 13th June, The Garden Museum’s annual British Flowers Week exhibition organised in partnership with New Covent Garden Market, the UK’s premier flower supplier, the week long programme not only unites florists, flower growers and flower lovers but is a celebration of British-grown flowers and the immense creative talent in floral design to be found across the country.

This year’s exhibition at the Garden Museum will see five of Britain’s top florists – Frida Kim, Harriet Parry, Kate Wren Flowers, McQueens Flowers, and Wagner Kreusch – creating sculptural flower installations with seasonal, sustainably-sourced, British-grown flowers, arranged using environmentally friendly materials and methods.

These show-stopping installations will transform the Garden Museum into a five-day immersive floral wonderland filled with the heavenly scents and colours of beautiful British blooms.

The theme for this year’s exhibition is ‘The Future’, and the florists will create original large-scale site-specific floral sculptures inside the Garden Museum’s historic Grade 2* listed building. Interpretations of the theme will explore sustainability, the future of floristry and its impact on the environment, and the intersection of nature, humans and technology.

But not only will the florists weave magic with flowers; on Thursday 9th June at 7.00pm they’ll be part of a special panel discussion - hosted by Hazel Gardiner, a former BFW exhibitor – to discuss the inspirations behind their installations as well as the joys and challenges of working in the floristry industry, and what the future may hold for British flowers.

And if that wasn’t enough on Friday 10th June there’s a special Up Late viewing (6 – 9pm) complete with some delightful music, cocktails and a rather cool AR experience courtesy of designer Balraj Bains

Entrance tickets to the Garden Museum cost £14 which includes access to the BFW installations, tickets to the Panel discussion are £15 or £5 if you want to join the livestream and the Up Late evening is £14 including one drink.
