Botanical Rhapsody, an immersive, and at times rocking, Houseplant Studio at this year’s Chelsea Flower Show, provided a unique sensory experience for visitors. It explored our innate connection with nature using technology to translate the electrical impulses of plants into rhythms and notes. The effect was amazingly soothing as visitors were encouraged to touch the plants and become part of their ‘music,’ hearing their own interactions converted into sound.
But you don’t need to install high tech to be able to react to the beauty and respond to the calming effect of plants. Simply being surrounded by green is restful of its own accord, and part of the sensory experience in the studio was down to the artful arrangement of plants, specifically chosen to enhance the overall ambience.
