Candlemas Day is celebrated at the beginning of February; it traditionally marks the official end of the Christmas season and was the time when you were finally allowed to take down your Christmas decorations. Appropriately, snowdrops, also sometimes known as Candlemas Bells, are poking their pure white heads through the soil – the first true sighting of spring.
