The government has unveiled its Energy Bill Discount Scheme (EBDS), designed to support businesses with their energy bills. The EBDS will run from 1 April 2023 (when the current Energy Bill Relief Scheme ends) until 31 March 2024.
Support available under the Energy Bill Discount Scheme is more limited than under the Energy Bill Relief Scheme.
The British Retail Consortium (BRC) have produced a summary of the scheme which we have outlined below.
HOW WILL IT WORK?
Eligible non-domestic energy customers will now receive a unit discount of up to £6.97/MWh to their gas bill and a unit discount of up to £19.61/MWh to their electricity bill during the 12-month period between 1 April 2023 and 31 March 2024, above a threshold level of £107/MWh for gass and £302M/Wh for electricity.
DO I NEED TO APPLY?
As with the EBRS, Businesses do not need to apply - support will automatically be applied to bills by your supplier.

• On existing fixed price contracts that were agreed on or after 1 December 2021;
