It’s the must-have houseplant of the year, Begonia maculata or the Spotted, Polka Dot Begonia. Native to the rainforests of south-east Brazil it has large, heart-shaped olive green leaves with silvery white dots and a striking red underside. A plant that loves warmth and humidity it is ideal for kitchens and bathrooms. The right conditions will also encourage it to flower with clusters of white or pink blooms in the summer.
