Support Small Business Saturday on 7th December

Small Business Saturday is a non-commercial movement created to highlight the great contribution that small businesses make to our economy. It aims to encourage consumers to 'shop local' and support small businesses in their communities.

This year, Small Business Saturday is on 7th December, when consumers across the UK will be encouraged to go out and support all types of small businesses, whether online or on the high street.

If you’d like to take part and support Small Business Saturday in your own business, there’s a dedicated website where you can download a free marketing pack and logos to create your own promotional posters and social media assets. You can also register and advertise your business on the Small Business Finder directory for free.

We've also created some social media assets that you can download for free here, to add to your own social media posts about Small Business Saturday:

There are lots of ways you can take part in the day, such as:

  • Use social media to promote yourself as a small business. Talk about your story, who the people in your business are and what your business is all about.

  • Consider running an exclusive Small Business Saturday promotion such as buy one, get one half price, a prize draw to win an arrangement or offering a free coffee and a mince pie while people shop.

  • Create a Small Business Saturday email campaign using your customer database. Remind your customers about the day, educate them about the benefits of shopping locally and share any promotions with them. Once Small Business Saturday is over, send a thank you email to keep the momentum going and to acknowledge everyone who shopped with you that day.

  • Use social media to interact with other local businesses to share their content about Small Business Saturday and hopefully, they’ll do the same in return.

  • Showcase any new Christmas products and advertise these online and in your shop.
